Through Arugu, I collaborated with WWF and the Nature Guides Academy (NGA) on the Ascend Naturalist Training (ANT) Programme. We put together a set of learning materials — five zines on ecological phenomena, three science booklets (flora, insects, and tracks & signs), and a course booklet.

I suggested the zine format because it felt like an easy, fun, and accessible way to share information while still holding quite a lot of detail. Most of the work went into breaking down ecological processes, like life cycles, in a way that was simple to follow and could also be represented visually. I tried to keep the illustrations playful and engaging, while staying as close to scientific accuracy as possible, since these are important concepts for naturalists to learn.
